Daddy’s Little Girl

Four walls of pink, with curtains soft,
Enclose her little world;
It’s filled with books and toys and things,
All for his little girl.

It’s such a bright and happy room,
Lit by a soft white light;
Yet no one knows the fear enclosed
Within these walls at night.

When bedtime comes shadows emerge
And slither thru the door,
Then quietly, so quietly,
Creep slowly ’cross the floor.

She wants to close her eyes and scream
But there’s nowhere to hide;
For still he comes, each night he comes,
And climbs in by her side.

She lies so still, she cannot move,
She’s paralyzed with fear,
And as he has his way with her
She weeps one silent tear.

And if you listen carefully,
You just might hear the sound
Of childhood calling silently,
And pleading to be found.

For from within these walls of fear
He’s stolen it away;
And all that’s left is just a shell,
That’s forgotten how to play.

Four walls of pink, with curtains soft,
Enclose her little world;
It’s filled with books and toys and things,
All for his little girl.
