Too Much?
Is it too much to want someone to care
When life has got me down and I am tired;
Is it too much to wish someone were there?
When storms disturb the safety of my lair,
When in depression’s quicksand I am mired,
Is it too much to want someone to care?
When I am lonely, sad, and in despair,
And a simple hand of friendship is desired,
Is it too much too wish someone were there?
Why is it that compassion is so rare
And, often, angry words like shots are fired?
Is it too much to want someone to care?
When I am happy friends are everywhere;
But when in sorrow’s cloak I am attired,
Is it too much too wish someone were there?
Oh why is life so lonely an affair
When a little TLC’s all that’s required?
Is it too much to want someone to care;
Is it too much too wish someone were there?
